Andre Berto became probably victim of contaminated dietary supplements

The WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) conducted the drug testing.
 Andre Berto had to meet Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. He agreed to submit to random drug testing before the match. T: E ratio method and carbon isotope ratio testing were used; they both indicated about application of Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested boxers and caught them administering steroids. The first boxer that tested positive this month due to tests conducted by the VADA was Lamont Peterson. He was scheduled to fight against Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. A carbon isotope ratio test conducted by the VADA determined that exogenous testosterone was in this boxer’s system certain weeks before the fight.
Financial position of certain companies was affected due to tests conducted by the VADA. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost significant potential profit due to positives of Lamont Peterson. It was determined by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not cost so much because Andre Berto will be possibly replaced by another boxer who will fight against Ortiz.
The boxer Andre Berto didn’t explain why he tested positive. He hired the attorney Howard Jacobs that would represent and defeat him.
Berto claimed that he had never used steroids. Thus, he noted that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. The boxer Andre Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard workouts and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs was hired by many other athletes who turned out to be victims of fake dietary supplements.
It is confirmed that since the steroid Nandrolone has too long half life and it is detected easily, it is not very popular among those who dope. But it has been defined many times that several dietary supplements contained the substance nandrolone which led to positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each substance is enumerated on the label, sportspeople become victims of contaminated sport supplements.
