Young British motorist blames steroids for hitting another driver in face

However it is not yet displayed scientifically whether “roid rage” is an unwanted result of steroids, these drugs are blamed for several crimes quite frequently.
Michael Barton, a man from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. Paul Gard was driving the Ford Fiesta. Barton had overtaken Paul Gard. But then Michael Barton had to pull back in front of him, since another car was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. Thus, he had to brake suddenly. Barton became raging, stopped his Volkswagen Golf, broke the wing mirror of Gard’s vehicle and hit Gard in the face. Then Gard’s wife called police. While she was calling, Barton drove off calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old person that has a son of two years old, uses steroids for bulking effects. Thus, it has been said that these products affected his behavior. The defense attorney for this young man affirmed that steroids influenced negatively on temperament of his client, since these products enhanced his levels of testosterone.
Previously Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year this young man pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving incautiously because of his anger following assaults.
The judge Patrick Hooton at Portsmouth Crown Court Deputy Circuit confirmed that he was not sure that steroids caused the improper behavior of Michael Barton. But he added that it was totally mad to get angered and hit a man in the face only because he flashed him. The judge noted that Barton’s behavior was very shameful and he announced: “you ought to go to prison”.
So, this person was given 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also enforced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of Paul Gard’s vehicle.

Athletes may mask testosterone use by drinking a cup of strong green tea

Sportspersons become more and more sophisticated in intake of steroids. They find new ways to hide their usage of forbidden products. Some of them take time to study scientists’ affirmations which may help them to hide that they dope. Today a way has been discovered: sportspersons can mask administration of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone is a hormone which presents in body naturally. Thus, it can be difficult for anti-doping agencies to determine that an athlete has used testosterone. T: E ratio testing is usually used by anti-doping agencies. Such tests can demonstrate uncommon ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it doesn’t have ability to show difference between testosterone that has been created in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, creams, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have determined that green tea has such compounds that are called “catechins”. They can inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme promotes attaching glucuronic acid to testosterone. If UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the compounds that have ability to mask testosterone use, are in green and white tea. Black tea lacks such compounds.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted some experiments. They confirm that a cup of strong green tea mask application of testosterone.
So, those sportspersons that administer testosterone can reduce amounts of testosterone excreting in urine by drinking of green or white tea. Green or white tea may block excretion of testosterone, increasing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the discovering by the experts. If this process occurs, it is not worthy to test urine. Blood tests should be performed in order to determine that a person has used testosterone.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s expert, affirms that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping agencies in order to avoid fooling of urine tests.

Doping products sent to Wim Vansevenant by Australian company were actually just amino acids

The case connected with the former Belgian rider Wim Vansevenant changed surprisingly. An analysis demonstrated that the doping medications which were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents written on the labels. This former sportsperson was cheated by the company where he ordered the preparations.
Last year several packages sent to Wim Vansevenant by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping drug TB-500. It is a peptide hormone which can induce enhancing muscle strength and speed healing. The Belgian authorities started an investigation. It was thought that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping drugs. This athlete rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of the career he was working with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs displayed that they contained only amino acids. Wim Vansevenant’s lawyer noted that the case had to be dropped. He explained that since the medication was not related to doping, the former sportsperson didn’t deserve to be punished.
Johan Lescrauwaet, the prosecutor’s spokesperson confirmed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the preparation which was written on the label and to the words of the former sportsman.
Just amino acids were discovered in the bottles. No any doping drug. Thus, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping medications to other individuals.
The hearing of the former Belgian professional rider was scheduled to be later.

Bruce Goldberger doesn’t abstain from criticism in case against Roger Clemens

Testimonies of the celebrated toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably influence greatly on decision of the court in the case related to Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This specialist didn’t testify on behalf of the government. However he was called in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies didn’t correspond to those which are usually provided by anti-doping organizations. He testified on behalf of the accused baseball player.
Bruce Goldberger has gotten his celebrity due to his participation in various news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t abstain from critical words. Bruce Goldberger criticized several anti-doping agencies, including the WADA.
Bruce Goldberger criticized feds in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” presented by McNamee to support that his client used steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal coach of this sportsman, provided a beer can with used needles and syringes which had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Roger Clemens’ blood. The beer can was maintained by McNamee more than 6 years. The toxicologist noticed that such basis was not reasonable.
Bruce Goldberger claimed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He added that no one could prove that Roger Clemens used steroids and HGH, basing on the beer can, because the theory of contamination could present.
So, the toxicologist Bruce Goldberger didn’t support the affirmations of the feds. Earlier the toxicologist also expressed criticism related to evidence utilized by certain anti-doping agencies.
Several years ago Goldberger testified on behalf of Floyd Landis, an American celebrated cyclist, when this sportsperson appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab located in France discovered traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were applied by the lab. Bruce Goldberger expressed similar words and criticism during the appeal connected with Floyd Landis.
The toxicologist Bruce Goldberger noted during an interview that the WADA utilized inadequate ways and violated rights of athletes in order to achieve the success in anti-doping programs.
Floyd Landis lost his appeal and admitted that he had taken steroids, EPO and several other related preparations.
Nobody can be sure which results will be reached by Roger Clemens. Will the government prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to administering forbidden products? Or will be the results contrary?

Roger Clemens doesn’t have increased muscle mass that could demonstrate that he has used steroids

Every baseball fan knows that Roger Clemens is charged with obstruction of justice. It is said that he has lied before Congress about application of steroids and HGH.
Rusty Hardin claimed that there was no any difference in physical appearance of Roger Clemens before, during and after his trainings with the coach Brian McNamee. The attorney confirmed that this factor proved that Roger Clemens hadn’t taken steroids and other related drugs.
Changing in muscle mass is usually utilized by federal prosecutors as proof that an athlete uses steroids or/and other related medications. But this tendency was not utilized during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. No one could claim that muscles of Roger Clemens demonstrated that he had applied steroids and HGH. It is one of differences between the case against Roger Clemens and that against Barry Bonds.
When it comes to the governmental case against Barry Bonds, feds called many individuals in the trial that were able to testify that anabolic steroids led to essential changes in physical appearance of this athlete. They claimed that usage of steroids caused increase of muscle size, enhanced size of the head and testicular shrinkage in Barry Bonds.
Thus, the defense attorney Rusty Hardin showed four pictures of Roger Clemens. The pictures displayed physique of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with the coach Brain McNamee. The attorney noted that the pictures displayed that there were no changes in physical appearance that could support that he utilized steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin claimed that the pictures displayed just the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern also claimed that she didn’t observe any changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens had neither back acne, nor abnormal development of breast tissue, nor dramatically enhanced muscles.
Phil Garner a former Major League Baseball player also claimed that there were not any essential changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with the coach Brian McNamee.
Steve Durham, the Assistant US Attorney tried to discredit the argument about lack of changes in Roger Clemens’ physical appearance during the cross-examination of Phil Garner. He confirmed that while several steroids enhanced muscle mass, others didn’t promote gaining muscles. So, he claimed that the pictures could say nothing about steroid use.
Federal prosecutors want to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they claim that physical changes in Barry Bonds display that he has used steroids, lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t applied steroids.

Steroid user killed over 70 persons in Oslo

Anders Behring Breivik is a killer of more than 70 persons. He bombed buildings of government in Oslo (Norway). Several teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also killed by him on Utoya island in July 2011.
This person trained for the crimes significantly. He acknowledged that he had applied steroid cycles.  Since he used steroids, these medicines were blamed for the deadly actions by many reporters.
But what did experts affirm? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested statements of these reporters. The specialist Joerge Moerland noted that anabolic steroids were not responsible for the crimes committed by this person. But the forensic toxicologist admitted that he couldn’t exclude that these medicines could lead to aggressiveness in the killer.
An “ECA stack”, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also utilized by Anders Breivik. Actually, this stack is normally taken by bodybuilders in order to burn fat and stimulate themselves for trainings. It was determined that the murderer has taken great amount of the stack. The amount applied by him was by 50 % more increased than it is allowed under rules of European Union.
The expert Moerland confirmed that the murderer’s behavior was more essentially influenced by the ECA than steroids. He pointed out that ephedrine might lead to desire to be involved in dangerous activities. Moerland claimed that the murderer’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nevertheless, the expert Joerge Moerland noted about limitation of the ECA’ influence. The amount of caffeine consumed by the killer was equal to about 5 cups of coffee. Thus, the amount was not enough great in order to be demonized for the crimes.
Breivik described his administration of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other persons getting steroids at Alinshop.
Breivik expressed his dislike of Dianabol because it could lead to fluid retention. He explained that Dianabol could add more body mass than consumers could carry. According to his affirmations, circa 50 % of the mass acquired due to this medicine is liquid retention. The killer decided to apply several combinations that were proper for his needs.
The killer learnt about effects of different steroids in order to choose those who were proper for his needs. He claimed that Testosterone Propionate had certain superiorities over Dianabol. He also supposed that stacks of Dianabol with Aromasin or administration of Dianabol followed by application of Winstrol could benefit substantially.
Thus, the murderer prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to study effects of steroids and plan steroid cycles and application of dietary supplements. He also pondered about every detail related to attacks and murders.
Although several persons believed that Anders Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that the murders have been committed consciously.

Sydney Morning Herald: motorcycle gangs are responsible for illegal intake of steroids in Australia

The newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” reports that outlaw motorcycle gangs are responsible for spread of illegal steroid use in Australia. The gangs receive significant profit and reduced risks.
The detective Nick Bingham has said that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation connected with usage of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when outlaw motorcycle gangs are arrested for violation of other laws.
According to the detective Nick Bingham, although New South Wales policemen don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when they conduct searches for weapons and psychostimulant drugs.
Nick Bingham has reported that they ordinarily seize such quantities of steroids from motorcycle gangs that are just for personal intake. Quantities of other products that are usually found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Bingham has claimed that criminals prefer taking anabolic steroids in order to get threatening muscular bodies. They want to look big and strong.
However the detective Nick Bingham is sure that gangs have steroids only for personal application, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with this statement. It reports that motorcycle gangs are involved in smuggling of steroids.
However gyms are claimed to be the main sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is stated by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that certain gyms have close connections with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that numerous seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are linked directly with distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to reports of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been increased significantly in comparison with past years.
More than 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
The majority of seizures were related to personal administration of steroids imported illegally by bodybuilders.

Federal prosecutors hope that judge will permit David Segui to testify against Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors hope that the judge Reggie Walton will permit the former Major League Baseball player David Segui to provide testimony in the trial connected with the case of Roger Clemens. This player had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former personal trainer of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have spoken about usage of steroids by the former prominent baseball player.
Brain McNamee was called to testify against Roger Clemens because he turned out to be the only person who had direct knowledge about usage of steroids and other related products by Clemens. Moreover, Brian McNamee kept injection equipment: vials, syringes and needles which were allegedly mixed with Roger Clemens’ blood. DNA analysis was conducted in order to confirm whether the blood belonged really to Clemens.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, claimed that the steroid evidence was made by Brian McNamee after the interrogation by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors confirmed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he kept certain things as evidence of steroid use by certain players in 2001. It was some years before Roger Clemens’ former trainer became the target of the investigation.
Information presented by David Segui to federal prosecutors differed essentially from that provided to Jim Baumbach, a sportswriter. His words presented to the sportswriter were published in an article in 2008. According to that piece of news, David Segui confirmed that he had never discussed about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
Segui found out about implication of Brian McNamee into the trial of Roger Clemens just in 2006, when he read an article in the Los Angeles Times.
David Segui said openly about personal application of steroids and other related medicines. He said that he had been asked many times by players of the Major League Baseball whether he had used steroids. The former Major League Baseball first baseman acknowledged that he had applied them. But Segui noted that he had never spoken about usage of steroids with Brian McNamee.
David Segui supported McNamee’s decision to store evidence about intake of banned preparations by his clients. According to Segui, it is a right decision because sometimes innocent guys are blamed but guilty guys are covered. So, Brian McNamee could help to support the truth.
Although the judge Walton was asked to permit David Segui to provide testimony in the trial linked with Roger Clemens, the decision of the judge is not announced yet.

Andre Berto became probably victim of contaminated dietary supplements

The WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) conducted the drug testing.
Andre Berto had to meet Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. He agreed to submit to random drug testing before the match. T: E ratio method and carbon isotope ratio testing were used; they both indicated about application of Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested boxers and caught them administering steroids. The first boxer that tested positive this month due to tests conducted by the VADA was Lamont Peterson. He was scheduled to fight against Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. A carbon isotope ratio test conducted by the VADA determined that exogenous testosterone was in this boxer’s system certain weeks before the fight.
Financial position of certain companies was affected due to tests conducted by the VADA. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost significant potential profit due to positives of Lamont Peterson. It was determined by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not cost so much because Andre Berto will be possibly replaced by another boxer who will fight against Ortiz.
The boxer Andre Berto didn’t explain why he tested positive. He hired the attorney Howard Jacobs that would represent and defeat him.
Berto claimed that he had never used steroids. Thus, he noted that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. The boxer Andre Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard workouts and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs was hired by many other athletes who turned out to be victims of fake dietary supplements.
It is confirmed that since the steroid Nandrolone has too long half life and it is detected easily, it is not very popular among those who dope. But it has been defined many times that several dietary supplements contained the substance nandrolone which led to positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each substance is enumerated on the label, sportspeople become victims of contaminated sport supplements.

However Chael Sonnen uses steroids, he will fight against Anderson Silva

Chael Sonnen is allowed to administer anabolic steroids. The physician Timothy Trainor noticed that this sportsperson actually experienced hypogonadism.
What does this disease represent? Hypogonadism is related to insufficient testosterone secretion. Doctors usually prescribe testosterone replacement therapy in order to cure this condition.
This fighter has obtained a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). Thus, he is allowed to utilize steroids for medical purposes and meet Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to recommendations of Sonnen’s doctor, he must be injected with Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice a week. The measures which are recommended have not been revealed. But under rules of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in this fighter should be within normal range on the morning after the match with Silva.
The physician Trainor claims that those that fight, having TUE, must be tested on the morning after the match to find out whether they have administered something right before the match.
The physician Trainor thinks that testosterone causes performance-enhancing effects, if it is utilized right before the fight. He states that injections must not be introduced in the days before a fight to prevent enhanced testosterone levels.
But it seems that the NAC doesn’t know that steroids cause effects linked with increase of performance, not only if they are used right before competitions. Intake of steroids influences significantly on performance during workouts before competitions. And the results remain even after users stop taking them.
The fighter Chael Sonnen had increased levels of testosterone at UFC 117. He admitted that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  He appealed his suspension and it was lowered to 6 months from one year. But he didn’t have any TUE that time.

World champion intended to smuggle large quantities of narcotics

The Bulgarian weightlifter Galabin Boevski was sentenced to 9 months in prison because of illegal international drug trade. This athlete was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he attempted to board the plane with 8 kg of cocaine. This athlete was headed to Bulgaria. Cocaine was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in countries of Europe.
Galabin Boevski is a celebrated athlete in Bulgaria. He is claimed to be one of the most celebrated weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught administering steroids in 1995. Of course, he was sentenced to suspension.
Then this sportsperson was caught administering forbidden drugs in 2004. It was the second time when he broke doping laws. In fact, Galabin Boevski didn’t test positive for any prohibited medications. But anti-doping officials defined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine that was provided by this sportsperson belonged to another individual. As a result, Boevski received 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Boevski became well-known due to his achievements in weightlifting. This sportsperson won gold medals at some competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver this athlete and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples that belonged to another individual. It was determined by anti-doping officials that the three urine samples belonged to one individual. These athletes were sentenced to suspensions. Boevski appealed the suspension but it was not successful.
Galabin Boevski broke some world records at different competitions. He held 3 world records. His best lifts were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is wondering but this athlete’s reputation was not destroyed in Bulgaria. He applied his status of celebrity in sports in order to establish a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was named Atama Wellness and Spa.
Furthermore, Maria Isabel do Prado, the Brazilian judge, claimed that Boevski utilized also his status of celebrity in sports in order to smuggle cocaine. She also added that this athlete used the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament in order to cover his illegal operations linked with smuggling of the narcotic.
The weightlifter Galabin Boevski said that he would appeal the conviction.

Federal prosecutors hoped that Andy Pettitte’s testimony would help to prove that Roger Clemens lied before Congress

The desire of the federal government linked with the case of Roger Clemens was following: they hoped to prove that this sportsperson had lied before the Congress about usage of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t achieve this goal. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would tell the jury that Roger Clemens had told him that he had taken the forbidden drugs during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the statement of Andy Pettitte was shocking for prosecutors. He claimed that he couldn’t affirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
In fact, did the statement of Andy Pettitte shock the prosecutors? This person swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on application of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens admitted to intake of HGH. But he pronounced opposite statements at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he may say that he is 50-50 that he has understood wrongly Roger Clemens about HGH. Pettitte answered that he is actually 50-50 about this aspect.
When the prosecutors heard Pettitte’s answer, they didn’t know what to do. They stated that Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked certain times.
The judge Reggie Walton noticed that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. In fact, his statement was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens used the moment of the prosecutors’ confusion. They requested the judge to brush aside the testimony of Andy Pettitte because he was 50-50. The attorneys concluded that he probably misunderstood Roger Clemens or he forgot the details of the conversation.
The government has responded that the jury still allows taking in consideration the testimony of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has confirmed that under federal rules jury is allowed to choose which affirmation to believe. This person hopes that the jury will brush aside the testimony that doesn’t support the government.
Thus, the testimony provided by Andy Pettitte and his wife caused problems. Testimonies of his wife during the first trial led to the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte affirms that he is Roger Clemens’ friend. Clemens must also confirm that they are friends after Andy  Pettitte’s last testimony.

Steroid user shot 5 police officers

Law enforcement officials came to Cullen Mutrie for a drug investigation. This person shot 5 police officials at his home. One of them, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney,  was killed; other four police officers were seriously injured. The next morning this killer and a woman were found dead.
It is supposed that Mutrie was administering anabolic steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, claimed that toxicology reports were waiting in order to find out whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of Cullen Mutrie.
Police officers confirmed that Cullen Mutrie had had very muscular appearance. He worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. It was described that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall. Cullen Mutrie weighed 275 pounds. During a raid that was in July 2010 law enforcement officers found anabolic steroids at his home. The police official Wayne Young found them in a coffee table. He said that he had noticed a plastic bag with some vials. A vial was with powder; others contained liquid. The labels indicated that they were steroids.
The vials were analyzed by the New Hampshire State Crime Lab. It was reported that the vials contained such preparations, as Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
The professor of kinesiology John Miller was asked whether a link between the crime and “roid rage” of anabolic steroids could present. The specialist affirmed that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to affirm that there was a direct link between usage of anabolic steroids and the shootout.
John Miller supposed that steroids that were on the black market were provided from legitimate pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids that are sold on the black market are produced in underground labs. It is even suspected that Cullen Mutrie manufactured steroids.
Since a link between crimes and intake of steroids is a controversial issue, not only police officers but also correspondents investigate the case connected with Cullen Mutrie.

Alistar Overeem used boring strategy for his defense against intentional steroid use

Alistar Overeem, a mixed martial artist, appealed his suspension that was received by him for administration of anabolic steroids in April 2012. But Alistar Overeem couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. Alistar Overeem lost his license for 9 months. Then this fighter may come back.
This fighter acknowledged that he had administered injectable testosterone which was recommended him by his physician. Alistar Overeem used the strategy that was claimed to be boring. He noticed that he had never applied anabolic steroids or other related products intentionally. He tried to make the NSAC think that his injectable use of steroids was accidental.
David Chenoff, the defense attorney for Alistar Overeem, is experienced in defending prominent athletes.
Chesnoff called the personal doctor of Overeem to testify during the hearing. It was believed that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for his patient. Testimonies of this physician were too miserable. The physician Molina provided an explanation for prescriptions of certain medications that led to Overeem’s enhanced testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating physician of Alistar Overeem admitted that he prescribed and injected his patient with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he had an injury. In fact, these preparations are used for anti-inflammatory purposes. But usage of testosterone for recovery from injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is believed that Dr. Molina hasn’t warned his patient that these products contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is obviously that he has never asked about it.
So, testimonies of Dr. Molina turned out to manifest lack of the evidence related to therapeutic purposes for intake of prohibited drugs by Alistar Overeem. The physician couldn’t present any reasonable explanation which could justify recommendations of Toradol and Dexamethasone to his patient. Testimonies of the health care provider Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
In fact, it became evident that Alistar Overeem was a victim of the health care provider’s quack.
But it is possible to suppose that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for this athlete.
Pat Lundval, a commissioner, was probably impressed by the defense of Alistar Overeem. She even called him a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to be convinced that Overeem has been actually a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable persons, as the health care provider Moline. They advised him to find more qualified professionals in the future.
