Jeffrey George is the owner of a former popular clinic related to hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was called “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was accused in illegal sales of anabolic steroids. As it was mentioned by investigators, he began tosell controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact he participated in illegal activity of pain clinics established in Florida. The owner of “South Beach Rejuvenation” sold steroids via internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They earned 40 million dollars due to illegal distribution of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their accusations. Jeffrey George faced also a murder charge because a customer had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal activity through his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in different magazines related to fitness as a part of therapy conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George connected with steroids. He was arrested for possession of anabolic steroids , intending to distribute them in 2003. This man was sentenced to 8 months in prison. Then he was involved in illegal sales of anabolic steroids, intending to bypass Florida’s laws that allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. George didn’t have any medical education. But he founded the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed several physicians that prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. He got 5, 000 dollars weekly for prescriptions of steroids for clients of “South Beach Rejuvenation”.
Since steroids were sold via internet and customers lived far from the clinic, they were required to perform certain tests in clinics that were located near to them. Then they filled results of tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per internet. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
Many sales consultants of ”South Beach Rejuvenation” took anabolic steroids too. Furthermore, they got large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and sold them on the side. The sales consultants also explained their clients how to take and administrate together different steroids in order to achieve better effects in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to found a clinic to distribute steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was established.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two doctors who were hired by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They were paid 1, 000 dollars weekly.
The persons that established “South Beach Rejuvenation” and “LA Health and Rejuvenation” and physicians employed by them were charged with illegal sales of anabolic steroids and prescriptions via internet.

What do actors do in order to increase their muscles to be able to play certain roles?
Anabolic steroids are definitively administrated by different actors. You can observe obvious changes in physique of actors in short time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short period of time he plays a role with enhanced muscles. How may actors increase their muscle size in short time? The answer is clear. They use anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they administrate performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” enhanced their muscles essentially to play certain roles. Undoubtedly, this fact led to questions about intake of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions connected with administration of medications that possess performance-enhancing effects.
It is known that Jason Momoa increased his muscle size by 30 pounds to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, who also played in “Conan the Barabarian” said that Momoa achieved that results not due to steroids. Jason Momoa said that he desired to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without steroid use. It would be ideally, according to this actor. But he mentioned that our world and life were not ideal. Momao confirmed that he had trained a lot. Moreover, this actor followed a strict diet. He consumed broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, this actor enhanced his muscle size by 20 pounds to be able to play Thor. Chris Hemsworth said that he had eaten very much. The actor said that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. He claimed that it had been very difficult to eat, when he didn’t want. Moreover, Chris Hemsworth had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was too tiring.
It is interesting to note that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this aspect unreal without administration of steroids? Nevertheless, the actor confirmed that he hadn’t used anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also induced muscles dramatically in order to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He said that he had induced muscles due to trainings and a strict diet.

Each player of the NFL will test for HGH once a year
Players of the NFL mistrust methods applied by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) made a decision to test players of the National Football League for HGH. Althogh the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic arguments related to the level of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Certain scientists who are not connected with the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods used by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, assures that the NFL players do not trust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skepticism of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH must be transparent. The WADA applies the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to notice that according to several specialists, the method of this test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research says that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that may be utilized by the WADA to determine athletes that use HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t applies this method to identify users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved scientifically, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
However scientists notice about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t desire to to use the other method.

To increase muscles without trainings, diets and adverse reactions
Scientists intend to elaborate alternative medications to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They claim that sportsmen may soon have another way to enhance muscles. The Salk Institute has said that the efforts of the specialists have got success. Late studies have displayed that suppression of a genome regulator that is known as “NCoR1” leads to enhacement of muscle mass, strength and endurance. The leader of the researches conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, claims that this knowledge can contribute in development of some new drugs which will benefit not only for athletes and bodybuilders that train but also for persons that have sedentary lifestyle.
The specialists of the Salk Institute note about individuals who are not able to perform physical exercises because they have different health problems, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological aspects which lead to sedentarism. The specialists put efforts to elaborate certain specific drugs that could benefit for sedentary persons so, as exercises benefit for healthy people. Now they make experiments with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they can cause increase of muscles in sedentary people. But individuals that administrate anabolic steroids have to train and change their diets in order to reach better results.
If new medications that inactivate NCoR1 are elaborated by specialists successfully, they will lead to essential changes in sedentary individuals. But could you imagine which positive effects will be caused in sportspersons?
But there is also an essential difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. As it is known, anabolic steroids cause unwanted reactions; some of them can be quite dangerous for health and even fatal. Furthermore, anabolic steroids can lead to serious undesirable reactions especially in females. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists are sure that drugs which will block this genome regulator will not lead to adverse effects.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression that has the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It describes results of various experiments that involved mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle size significantly. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had got more increased muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice which received anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further studies and conclusions.
It is possible to note that elder people and persons that suffer of muscle dystrophy will be soon enrolled in studies to check positive effects of new potential products.

Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t take part in competitions four years. The suspension was pronounced by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was accused in trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher distributed more than 15 types of steroids. It was found out that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone were among the drugs which had been sold by this famous sportsman. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this sportsperson to 9 months in prison.
It is interesting to note that the shot-putter from Britain never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you find this fact strange? What could it mean? It is possible to suppose that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not good enough to catch steroid users who take part in world sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD try to make sports free of cheating and administration of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These agencies also work together with law enforcement organizations in order to get the necessary effects.
The UKAD noted that anti-doping officials would be allowed to supply information about names of athletes that administrated anabolic steroids.
This case displayed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement benefits a lot. It proved that law enforcement agencies may help greatly to detect the sportspersons who apply anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is not possible to overvalue the role of these agencies in catching of steroid users in sports. Andy Parkinson, the manager of the UKAD, is sure that if law enforcement organizations collaborate with the UKAD, they will have success.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain case linked with administration of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had taken part in the illegal activity led by his uncle and cousin. This resulted in Fletcher’s suspension from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Several persons claim that statements of Yannick Noah about steroids in sports are foolish
Spanish sportsmen had sharp words for the former tennis player from France, Yannick Noah. This person wrote an amazing article “La Potion Magique” that was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. This former sportsman notices in his work that Spanish sportspersons have certain priorities and win competitions because they apply anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has more loyal attitude to intake of steroids than France; that’s why sportspersons from Spain have more induced muscle mass and have success in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a celebrated Spanish sportsperson, claims that Yannick Noah wrote totally stupid statements and comments in his work. He is surprised how Noah’s article was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadalthat won 10 Grand Slam titles points out that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such things which are worthy to be published. According to the Spanish sportsman, articles of the former French tennis player do not public attention.
David Ferrer, a professional tennis player from Spain, claims that Yannick Noah is an ignorant person. Ferrer can’t understand how a person like Noah that was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works is able to write such things.
Tennis is not the only area of sports in which Spain had success. Basketball players from Spain won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, a cyclist from Spain, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football director, confirms that Yannick Noah should prove, if he points out that sportspersons from Spain take steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he can’t prove it, he must close his mouth.
French sportsmen support attitude of Spanish athletes to Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a celebrated tennis player from France, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the director of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that persons who don’t support the idea of Noah’s article.

Why some persons that manufacture steroids are accused in child abuse?
Ruben Jaramillo, a man in New Mexico, is charged with child abuse. Police invaded his house and discovered that his house was an underground lab which had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, an individual may be charged with child abuse, if he\she just allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment utilized for production or storage of these forbidden medicines are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team invaded the house, they saw that there was a clandestine lab in it. Police oficcers found several kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of the controlled substances. Certain vials had following labels: “Testosterone Cypionate”. Moreover, police officers mentioned that information linked with prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical compounds were in different rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s two daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police officers raided the house.
As it is known, New Mexico is not the only state where the manufacture of anabolic steroids may be treated as child abuse. At least 10 other states have the same laws. Such laws are established not without any reasons.
Chemical substances can be toxic. They may destroy children’s health. It is necessary also to know that there is a risk of fires and explosions of some chemical substances. Parents that manufacture anabolic steroids at home do not take in consideration their children’s health. The children may face essential dangers in such situations. How may children live in a methamphetamine lab and avoid dangers?
Parents that only take steroids differ from those that manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first case in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is treated as child abuse by prosecutors.

Laraque’s efforts to become a good sportsman are described in his book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”
Georges Laraque described his difficult life of sports in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He wanted to share his biography with others. Georges Laraque mentioned also about administration of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These facts about intake of steroids in NHL seemed to be very interesting. The Canadian press published just the quotes related to this endless subject. The rest of the book was neglected.
Georges Laraque pointed out in an interview that he had never used performance-enhancing drugs. Moreover, the author pointed out that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the sportsmen that had administrated steroids. The book is indeed about life of the author.
George Laraque notices about certain ways in order to determine whether a hockey player applies steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways noticed by him:
1. A hockey player whose weight has been increased by more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be utilizing steroids.
2. A hockey player whose weight has been reduced significantly in short period of time to correspond to the indications of the Winter Olympics must be utilizing steroids.
Undoubtedly, all athletes, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the World Anti-Doping Agency. That’s why they cease administrating the forbidden medications certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to escape from probability of testing positive for these products.
But this is not the most important idea of the book. The author wanted to show that a child has to put many efforts to become a famous professional sportsman enduring racial intolerance and bullying. But the media doesn’t pay attention on this subject. The media intends to publish stories linked with administration of steroids in sports.
It was not the goal of the author to name the hockey players who used steroids.
Of course, the media asks George Laraque to name steroid users of the NHL.

If authorities give priority to the investigations related to steroids, positive results can be achieved
A two-year investigation detected and shut an immense underground lab connected with steroids. The investigation was led under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-planned activity of the certain authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a dealer of steroids distributed these medications to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was said about it, the investigations started. The law enforcement made a decision to send an officer who had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid distributor. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this need.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only individual at this association who was told about the investigation. He was able to keep all things he knew about the plans of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a huge organization connected with distribution of steroids was detected.
32 persons were involved in the illegal activity linked with distribution of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to catch just manufacturers and distributors of steroids. Although it didn’t focus on persons that bought these medications, the officials noted that professional sportspersons and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The law enforcement seized 600,000 dollars that were claimed to be a profit from selling of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA talked openly to media about the results of the investigation. He was not afraid to mention that he had taken part in this activity to catch the criminal organization. Caroll told that he was too glad to find out about the positive results.
It is necessary to mention that it was quite difficult to detect the criminal organization. The undercover agent had to put efforts to buy steroids from a dealer. As a result of the investigation, an underground lab in Tennessee was detected. It produced steroids in injectable form. The raw was bought from China. The leaders of selling were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to the undercover agent, direct interactions between distributors and customers were avoided in this organization. There was a specific organized locker system which helped to prevent personal interactions.
However this illegal activity linked with manufacture and distribution of steroids was well-organized, the law-enforcement could detect it to close the laboratory. The result of the investigation displays that it can be confirmed the following statement: if law enforcement gives chief priority to such investigations, positive results can be reached.

The WADA uses a test that is claimed to be not reliable
NFL players don’t trust methods used by the WADA. Why did the distrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) intends to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic thoughts linked with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
Several experts that are not related to the WADA activity directly do not agree with the methods utilized by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of intake of steroids in American football, confirms that the NFL players are skeptic to the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, points out that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH should be transparent. The WADA utilizes the HGH isoform ratio test introduced by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to mention that according to some specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test doesn’t have scientific basis. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research claims that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test that can be utilized by the WADA to determine sportspersons that apply HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use the method of Sonksen to determine users of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not understand the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by specialists, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists confirm about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t want to to utilize the HGH biomarker test.

Conte supplied steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, bought anabolic steroids from Conte too. After she had tested positive for Modafinil, she lost her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had used tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the advance of anti-doping companies related to steroids in sport.

Why does Kathy Jager need a TUE?
Kathy Jager, a well-known sportswoman, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this athlete was banned from participation in competitions. Kathy Jager must not compete till the age of 70. This is the establishment of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This famous athlete took steroids because these products were recommended by the physician to improve her hormone balance. According to the rules of World Anti-Doping Agency, sportspersons may utilize steroids for medical purposes and participate in competitions, if they have a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But Kathy Jager didn’t have a TUE which could give her the authorization to utilize these preparations without being excluded from competitions.
It is necessary to note that this athlete doesn’t treat intake of anabolic steroids seriously.
She tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between athletes of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for application of banned medications. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this famous sportswoman used EstraTest HS which contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a single tablet.
Kathy Jager pointed out that she had used EstraTest for medical needs. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and didn’t allow her to take part in competitions.
This case caused a lot of debates. Some people condemned her for administration of steroids, others defended her.
When she was banned the first time, she applied steroids in order to avoid menopausal troubles. The products were prescribed by her physician. Later she discontinued applying recommended drugs and started to apply herbal preparations.
So, this athlete must not participate in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody is sure whether the WADA will give her a TUE or not.
