A police officer that is addicted to steroids has been sentenced to imprisonment for leaking confidential information

The former West Chest Police Department David Busemeyer attempted to convince a judge that his addiction to anabolic steroids had led to his corruption. But he wasn’t capable to convince the judge. As a result, David Busemeyer was sentenced to 6 months in prison. The former police official was pleaded guilty to leaking confidential information of the Police Department that began an investigation related to a steroid dealer.
David Busemeyer noted in the court that he had been infuriated and upset because of his drug addiction.
The defense attorney for the former police official tried to convince the judge that his client had to be cured from his addiction. The attorney attempted to prove that it would be the most suitable sentence for this individual’s crime.
According to some court documents, the former police officer took steroids for 4 years. Furthermore, the former police official used 10-15 pain pills under prescriptions to relieve pains provoked by steroids.  
But the judge refused to accept such excuse. It seemed at the beginning that he planned to hand down even harsher sentence but then he gave a lighter sentence because he had to take into account sentencing guidelines.
The judge Spaeth noted that David Busemeyer had put in danger own safety and safety of other police officers. He put at risk reputation of the whole police department.
 It became evident that Busemeyer had extra-marital relationship with the sister of the distributor of steroids who was investigated by the West Chest Police Department. David Busemeyer told his girlfriend and his brother that an investigation to bust the drug dealer began to be conducted.
Although Busemeyer didn’t mention the name of the informant, he presented enough information to understand who the informant was.
Police officials raided the house of Busemeyer and found steroids and evidence of his Administartion of steroids.
It was decided not to bring a criminal action against the former police officer for possession of steroids and fake prescriptions for application of these drugs.
