Oconee County’s employees are going to be tested for anabolic steroids. Scott Moulder, County Administrator, pronounced about possible changes of the Oconee County Council in the list of narcotics. There is a possibility that anabolic steroids will be included in this list.
Since steroids began to be widely taken by law enforcement officers in many states, the chairman of the public safety committee Wayne McCall stated about an essential decision. The chairman said that steroid testing should be performed in Oconee County. Wayne McCall explained what led to the decision to test employees for the prohibited medicines. According to the chairman, anabolic steroids have too negative influence on people. They turn normal persons to mad ones. The chairman compared persons that use anabolic steroids with “Magilla Gorilla” that can become aggressive and kill others. Thus, the chairman thinks that users of anabolic steroids are extremely dangerous individuals for society. The chairman confirms that administration of these prohibited preparations is an increasing problem in almost all states. Even police officers and firefighters utilize these prohibited preparations that lead to psychological disorders and uncontrolled aggression.
Wayne McCall noted that several officials and firefighters were similar to Magilla Gorilla, the star of the 1960 cartoon “The Magilla Gorilla”. Wayne McCall claimed that such officers might destroy own health and life or even kill other persons.
It was the first time when users of anabolic steroids were compared with the cartoon star Magilla Gorilla. Some individuals claim that this comparison is quite ironical.
However it is said that steroid testing will benefit, it is necessary to remember that it will be spent too much money which are expected to be taken from taxpayers funds.
